Tips & tricks

Here is my “black book” with all the tricks I might forget. Some of them are odd, others may be useful.

Unlike articles, my tips are often not detailed at all, and I do not provide step by step instructions.

  • Linode information script
  • Change the Subject: header of messages not going through antispam filter
  • Clear dpkg status file
  • Move SPAM to Junk folder and mark as read
  • Numlock on startup
  • Optimize MySQL tables
  • Purge all packages
  • Use secure-apt with unofficial repositories
