New APRIL member
May 27th
Thanks to RMS’s call, I have finally sent my subscription fees to become a member of APRIL (the French association for promotion and research in libre computing). I should have done this earlier but postponed my decision without any reason.
I hope this will allow me to meet nice people with the same interests.
Kirya.eu registered
May 8th
I have just registered the kirya.eu domain name. Though I don’t have real use for it (at least for now), I have already updated all my configuration so that it is a mirror of the kirya.net domain.
I am now waiting the worldwide DNS servers to be updated to check if everything is OK.
Fixed issues on kirya.net
Apr 20th
I have fixed some more issues on kirya.net, including:
- CSS rendering with Internet Explorer (11% to 13% of my visitors use MS IE)
- Updated and changed WP plugins (for syntax higlighting and auto-closing comments)
- Fixed issues with search function which was excluding static pages
This should leave me some time to (try and) work on the design of this website. Some articles are also being prepared but still need hard work.
I am proud to see that the numer of visitors keeps increasing on a regular basis.
WordPress and mod_cache
Apr 13th
Since I upgraded my home server to Etch last week-end (a few hours before the official release was announced), I have noticed some strange behaviours on my WordPress powered weblog.
The issue only occured with the RSS feeds, which didn’t display the posts they were supposed to. I have just found the origin of the problem to be mod_cache which was enabled during the upgrade to apache 2.2 without I noticed it.
I disactivated it at least temporarily, time for me to enquire how I can disable caching with specific mod_rewrite generated url. This was already discussed a lot.
At least, I haven’t flooded Planet Debian!
First contribution to Debaday
Apr 8th
My first review for Debaday (Debian Package of the Day) was published today. It is a short introduction to TinyCa, simple user interface to manage a small CA.
I wanted to promote this tool, as it is exactly what I had been looking for for ages.
PS: congratulations to Sam Hocevar for being the new DPL.
RSS feed for Kirya.net articles
Apr 1st
Thanks to Nico Golde, I have now set up a feed with the list of articles available on Kirya.net. This feature is missing in WordPress, and I haven’t managed to find any plugin for this. I might however find the time to study this more in depth in the future.
The feed uses Feed43 service. Here is the result: http://feed43.com/kirya_articles.xml
First time in Debian Weekly News
Mar 14th
I was surprised to read my name in yesterday’s edition of the (now monthly) Debian Weekly News.
I have been quoted thanks to my question on debian-mentors@l.d.o about when a maintainer may close an unreproducible bug report.
This particular bug was closed a few days after, as it was due to a misconfiguration on the bug reporter’s machine.
Thank you joey!
Now on Planet Debian!
Feb 26th
Thanks to Mako, my weblog (at least part of it) is now syndicated on Planet Debian!
I thus ought to introduce myself: I’m Julien, 28 years old, living in the North East of France. I already (co-)maintain a bunch of packages in the official archive, and try to actively report bugs. I also used to acting as a translator for the French l10n team, which I will resume once time allows it. I may plan to enter the New Maintainer process in the next couple of months.
I take this as an occasion to thank all my sponsors and co-maintainers (Christoph, Free, Clément, Micah and Loïc) for their interest in working with me and for their patience.
I hope being on Planet Debian will allow me to better integrate into the Debian community.
